Woodsmoke Gourmet was originally created in order to introduce Australians to the wonderful world of BBQ plank cooking!

Founder Scott was immediately hooked after discovering “BBQ Cedar Planked Salmon" on a trip to the Pacific North West region of USA and Canada. “I loved the natural simplicity of the preparation, and when I tasted the result I was blown away”.

Upon returning to Australia, he was disappointed to discover that BBQ grilling planks were relatively unknown. This disappointment though, was the motivating factor behind the development of Woodsmoke Gourmet.

"How and why BBQ plank cooking has managed to escape mainstream attention in Australia remains a mystery to me”, says Scott. “Australia is a BBQ crazy country, gourmet food preparation is booming - it’s the perfect time to introduce a new BBQ cooking technique to Australia”.

“Maybe it’s in our hard wiring, but there’s a fundamental attraction to cooking outdoors. For millennia, we’ve gathered round fire and smoke as the feast is prepared. It’s always been a natural focal point where to connect with friends and family. A place where we relax, laugh, share, and eat. I want to help keep this tradition alive”.

Woodsmoke’s product, is sourced from USA and Canada, and has never been exposed to pesticides or chemicals.

In order to develop business further, Woodsmoke Gourmet now stock an exclusive range of rubs, as well as a delicious single forest Maple Syrup.

When asked where he’s taking the business, Scott says, “I’m expanding the business with exclusive products you won’t find anywhere else in Australia. Ideally, I’m looking for products which also tell a story. Our products are imported, but designed to be used with the amazing fresh produce we have in Australia. Our range is perfect for stocking at high end grocers, butchers, or fishmongers - as well as making unique gift ideas”.
